Privacy Policy
Syllabuddy ("we," "our," or "us") operates syllabuddy.co. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
1. Information We Collect
- Account info — your email address, used to identify your account
- Uploaded content — documents you submit to the Service, processed to provide results
- Calendar feed links — if you connect Canvas or Blackboard date sync, the calendar feed URL you provide is used to keep your dates up to date
- Usage data — basic telemetry and page-view analytics to keep the Service running reliably
- Payment info — handled entirely by Stripe; we do not store card details
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the Service
- To process payments
- To send account-related emails (e.g., sign-in links)
- To monitor and improve reliability
We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising.
3. Google Sign-In
If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information solely for account identification. We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar, or any other Google services.
Our use of Google account data adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy , including the Limited Use requirements.
4. Syllabus Processing
To extract assignments, due dates, grading breakdowns, and other course details, the text of documents you upload is sent to Anthropic's Claude models through Anthropic's commercial API. Anthropic processes this text only to return results to us. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models.
We do not send your account email, payment details, or calendar feed links to AI providers.
5. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following providers to operate the Service:
- Anthropic — AI processing of uploaded documents
- Stripe — payment processing
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage
- Railway — backend hosting
- Vercel — website hosting and analytics
- Google — optional sign-in
These providers process information on our behalf only to provide Syllabuddy, and only as much as needed to do so.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings, or ask us to delete it by emailing syllabuddy.contact@gmail.com. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, classes, uploaded files, grades, and calendar connections, and cancels any active subscription.
A limited amount of information is kept after deletion:
- Deletion record — your account ID and email address, kept only so a deleted account cannot be used to sign in again
- Processed course results — to avoid processing the same syllabus twice, we keep the structured details pulled from it (such as course schedule, grading breakdown, and instructor details listed in the syllabus). These results are not linked to your account and do not include the original file.
- Payment and payout records — kept by us and by Stripe as needed for billing, tax, and legal obligations
7. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We follow industry-standard security practices to protect your information.
Authorized Syllabuddy staff may access your account email and upload history (e.g., which syllabi you've processed) for customer support and service reliability purposes. We do not access the contents of your uploaded documents except as necessary to investigate a reported issue.
No system connected to the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information.
8. Where We Operate
Syllabuddy is operated from the United States and is primarily intended for users in the United States and Canada. The Service is not directed at people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
Your information is processed and stored in the United States by us and the service providers listed above. If you live outside the United States, including in Canada, your information will be transferred to the United States. While it is there, courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities may be able to access it under U.S. law.
9. Your Rights
You can ask to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing syllabuddy.contact@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
You can also delete your account yourself at any time from your account settings, which withdraws your consent to our processing. Deleting your account means we can no longer provide the Service to you. If you are not satisfied with our response to a request, you may contact the privacy regulator where you live.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
